KARACHI, Aug 4: The road network of Karachi is being improved on a priority basis, with an aim to provide better civic amenities to the people, said city Nazim Naimatullah Khan on Saturday.

Inaugurating the construction work of Sharah-i-Chisti, which is being built from the Abdullah College to Banaras Chowk, he said that most of the city streets are in bad condition, causing inconvenience to the public.

He said that the construction of Sharah-i-Chisti will facilitate millions of residents of Orangi township, Qasba and Metroville. The city government would undertake the repair and construction work of more streets all over the city at an estimated cost of one billion rupees, including those in Gulberg, North Nazimabad and Liaquatabad towns, Khan said.

On a complaint by the Nazim of North Nazimabad town regarding delay in the construction of Shershah Suri Road, he asked the EDO Works Brig Zaheer Qadri (retired) to arrange his meeting with the contractor working on the project.—APP
