MANCHESTER, Aug 3: Haider Ali outpunched Indian Som Bahadur Pun to give Pakistan its first-ever gold medal in boxing in Commonwealth Games when he won the featherweight final here on Saturday.

Haider overpowered his Indian rival by a wide margin of 28-10 to bring glory to his country in the boxing ring

Quetta-born Haider dominated the four-round final from the very word go.

“I am really glad that I gave my collegues something to cheer about after the surprising loss in the hockey semifinal on Friday, Haider Ali said after his resounding triumph over Bahadur Pun.
