Teachers block road

SAHIWAL, Aug 3: Teachers on Saturday took out a protest rally from the Government High School under the aegis of the Joint Action Committee of Teachers, Sahiwal district.

Protesting against the privatization of educational institutions, teachers blocked the Mission Chowk Road and raised slogans the government.

Action Committee chairman Faiz Ahmed Faiz, his Naib Haji Abdul Salam and others spoke on the occasion.

CASE REGISTERED: Noor Shah police on Saturday registered a case against a dispenser for an attempt to criminally assault a patient girl.

Saqlain Akhtar (22) was admitted to the medical ward of the Noorshah Hospital. She was asleep at night when Liaquat came there and tried to criminally assault her. The accused escaped when the girl raised hue and cry.

A case has been registered under the Hudood Ordinance.

Meanwhile, a local court granted the dispenser pre-arrest bail and directed the police to produce the record on July 12.
