LARKANA, Aug 2: The People’s Doctors’ Forum, Larkana, staged a protest demonstration here on Friday against the failure of the police in arresting those who had attacked and injured Prof Zaffar Pirzado, vice principal of the Chandka Medical College.

Speaking at the rally, Dr Shoukat Abro, president, PDF, Larkana, said that the culprits were issuing life threats to the professor and asking him to withdraw the FIR.

They demanded arrest of the accused nominated in the FIR.

Later, around a dozen doctors, including Waheed Memon, general secretary, PMA, Larkana, Tanveer Gaad and Afzal Abro, observed a token hunger strike.

The city doctors also observed a two-hour strike from 10am to 12 noon, which left the CMCH OPDs and CMC classes deserted.

STRIKE: The clerks of the Education Department temporary called off their pen-down strike on Friday after getting assurance from the Finance Department that no employee would be transferred to surplus pool.

Mohammed Sharif Chachar, who led the delegation of All Pakistan Clerks Association, Larkana, in the meeting with the officials of the Finance Department in Karachi the other day, told this scribe on Friday that the Sindh finance secretary had assured of continuation of sending the salaries of the 87 employees, who were supposed to be sent into surplus pool for two months.
