KARACHI: MoUs on population welfare signed

KARACHI, July 29: The Ministry of Population Welfare on Monday signed four Memorandums of Understanding with the KPT, the PIA, Pakistan Steel and APTMA at a ceremony held in the New Sindh Secretariat.

The MoUs were signed by representative of the Ministry of Population Welfare with the KPT chairman, Rear Admiral Ahmed Hayat, the director for administration of the PIA, Anwar Rasool Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Steel, Mohammed Afzal Khan, and Khalid Amin of APTMA.

The singing ceremony took place in the presence of the federal minister for population welfare and special education, Dr Attiya Inayatullah.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Attiya stressed the need for demystifying the issue of family planning and asked the Target Group Institutions to revamp and activate their health and social service facilities provided in their respective organizations.

She said the population explosion was a major issue of Pakistan and it needed to improve the quality of life through family planning.

She said it was for the first time that the government had reached an agreement for a private-public partnership to carry forward the national population welfare programme.—APP
