KARACHI, July 28: Pakistan vice-captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is all set to quit in protest from the coaching job assigned to him by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

He is expected to submit his resignation Monday to chairman of the PCB Lt Gen Tauqir Zia, who will spend the day at the cricket headquarters after a hectic two-week involvement at the wargames exercises of armed forces.

Sources close to Inzamam said he was disgusted with the treatment he was getting from the accounts department of the PCB. Sources said the department were delaying the monthly stipend of Rs25,000 to the prolific batsman.

Inzamam was hired by the PCB 18 months ago to take up coaching assignments after he became jobless. Inzamam had sporadically coached youngsters in his hometown of Multan. But he had never been able to devote more time as a coach because of Pakistan’s hectic international assignments.

Inzamam was not available for comments.

Inzamam’s indignation is just another example of state of affairs at the PCB headquarters and competence level of people looking after day-to-day affairs.

It remains to be seen how the PCB chairman, who has a reputation of being a troubleshooter, handles the situation which may not be of serious note but certainly something that needs to be tackled and sorted out immediately given Inzamam’s standing and his invaluable services to Pakistan cricket.
