KCCA to approach PCB for three teams

By Our Sports Reporter

KARACHI, July 27: The Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) decided Saturday to approach Lt Gen Tauqir Zia, chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, and plead inclusion of a third team from the city in next season’s National Under-19 championship and the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade-II tournament.

The executive council of the KCCA, which met with president Munir Hussain in the chair, also gave post facto approval of nomination of the association’s selection committee by KCCA chief. The committee is headed by former Test batsman Aftab Baloch with Azam Khan, Shoaib Habib and Abdullah as members. Badar Jaffery was appointed secretary of the body.

Meanwhile, the council clarified that all postings of umpires for local tournaments will be made by the KCCA in the non-existence of Karachi Cricket Umpires Association (KCUA) at present.

The PCB has already been informed of the decision till the elections of KCUA are held.

The council also approved a sanction of Rs one million for improvement of outfield and laying of sub soil drainage system at the KCCA Stadium.
