Obscene shows flayed

Published July 27, 2002

PESHAWAR, July 26: Pasban, a social organization, has criticized the city government for not taking action against stage shows containing vulgar dances and obscenity.

The organization distributed a leaflet among the people after the Juma prayers, criticizing ‘gambling and vulgar’ shows held under the garb of mela and cultural activities and said the Nazim of the area concerned had failed in stopping the practice.

It said these shows were corrupting the minds of young people as instead of taking part in useful activities they spent hours at these places. —PPI
