ISLAMABAD, July 26: Unlike India there will be no change in the status of travel advisory issued by the US government for its diplomats and citizens regarding Pakistan, a US embassy official told Dawn here on Thursday.
On Monday the US administration lifted the “authorised departure” for its non-essential personnel and dependants from its missions in India. The US State Department had authorised the departure on May 31 when India and Pakistan were on the brink of war.
“The authorized departure from India was due to the danger of war between India and Pakistan which seems to have been averted for the time being,” explained the US official when contacted by Dawn .
“The reason the status in Pakistan remains unchanged is that here it is more the issue of terrorism,” he maintained.
“There would be no change in the near future as far as Pakistan is concerned,” the official made it clear.
