HYDERABAD: Farmers advised to use new technology

HYDERABAD, July 26: The Sindh minister for agriculture, Sardar Muqeem Khan Khoso, has stressed the need for introducing new technology in the agricultural sector to get maximum production.

He was presiding over a meeting of the agriculture officers at the office of the director general, agriculture extension, Sindh, on Friday.

He said that the government was doing everything possible regarding it to enhance crop production, which would also benefit the growers.

He urged the farm water management authority to make all-out efforts for the lining of watercourses with the help of the local Abadgar Associations to check the wastage of precious water.

He also instructed the director, fisheries, Sindh, to hold an open auction of government fisheries waters with a view to collecting maximum revenue.

The minister was informed that five cattle farms had been established in the province, and an effort was being made to increase beef production.

MASS MARRIAGES: The district in charge, Pakistan Baitulmaal, Hyderabad, has announced on Friday that a programme for distribution of Jahez items for mass marriages would be held at the circuit house, Hyderabad, on July 29 at 11am.

SCHEME PROPOSED: The DCO, Hyderabad, Mir Hussain Ali, has informed that a scheme under build, operate, and transfer has been proposed to link the Hyderabad bypass with the Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas road to check heavy vehicular traffic from Hyderabad city.

He said that Rs2 million have been allocated to engage consultants for carrying out a feasibility study on the proposal of the new link road.

He was presiding over a meeting to discuss old and new development schemes under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme-Agricultural Development of Pakistan and Tameer-e-Sindh programme on Friday.

Expressing concern over the delay in the long-awaited Tando Allahyar bypass project, the DCO stressed upon the highway officials to keep a close liaison with railway authorities.
