MULTAN, July 25: A family of Makhdoom Rasheed area took out a protest demonstration against the police excesses here on Thursday.

They alleged that the Makhdoom Rasheed police were reluctant in arresting Mukhtar alias Makha, Sajjad alias Sajji and Iqbal who seriously injured their brother Muhammad Ramzan over a land dispute in Kaluwala village, Mouza Bheeni.

Khalida Perveen told newsmen that she had lodged a case with the Makhdoom Rashid police on Dec 19, 2001. But to safeguard the influential accused, the police did faulty investigation and subsequently made a weak case against the culprits.

She said the attack cost an eye to her brother, but the culprits were roaming freely in connivance with the area police. She said her family sought justice from Multan DPO and DIG, but to no avail. “If police keep on patronizing criminals, no one can stop the anarchy in the country,” she asserted. — Correspondent
