GUJRAT, July 25: There is no other political party in the country except the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

This was stated by Maj-Gen Saeedul Hasan Zaidi (retired) at a function hosted on Thursday in his honour on joining the PPP at Jhelum. In his brief address, Gen Zaidi said he has joined the PPP due to its good reputation and people friendly policies.

He said PPP founding chairman Zulfikar Ali Bhutto boosted the morale of the army and initiated nuclear programme.

Meanwhile, the party sources told Dawn that Gen Zaidi was likely to be the PPP candidate for the National Assembly constituency NA 62.

Former federal minister Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar said the army should go back to barracks after holding fair polls.

Former minister Khalid Kharal, Punjab president Qasim Zia, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Chaudhry Naveed, and Jhelum PPP president Intasar Khan were also present on the occasion.
