Increase in Mangla Dam height after compensation

ISLAMABAD, July 25: The government on Thursday constituted two committees to deal with the problem of resettlement and compensation before taking up the project for increasing the height of Mangla Dam by 40 feet.

Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas Abbas Sarfaraz Khan on Thursday presided over a meeting which decided to set up two committees for resolving these issues.

Prime Minister AJK Sardar Sikandar Hayat, Chief Secretary AJK Naem Khan, Secretary Water and Power, Mirza Hamid Hassan, Secretary Kashmir Affairs, Javed Ashraf Hussain, and other senior official of AJK government also attended the meeting.

The minister said the project of raising of Mangla Dam would be implemented after resolving all pending issues.

The affected people would be given proper compensation package and their reservations in this regard would be fully addressed to.
