KARACHI: FIRs likely against schools’ occupants

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 25: The Sindh education department has asked the district coordination officers to move promptly against those who have encroached upon government schools.

Sources in the department said that following the reports about illegal occupation of some school buildings by feudal elements and the misuse of the buildings constructed under development projects the governor had directed severe action against illegal occupants.

Under section 3 of the Sindh Public Property (Removal of Encroachment) Act 1975, encroachment could be removed by lodging an FIR against the illegal occupants. The clause also provided room for action against those who had occupied rooms or set up book shops and were misusing the resource.

The DCOs have been asked to look into the matter on a priority basis and direct the concerned authority to lodge FIRs against all illegal occupants of government schools in their respective districts.
