HYDERABAD: ‘Hepatitis-B alarming’

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, July 24: Hepatitis-B is more dangerous disease than AIDS and it is incurable.

This was said by speakers at a vaccine medical camp, organized by the directorate of workers education in the premises of the Deewan Textile Mill, Kotri, on Tuesday said

They said every year two million people died of this disease throughout the world, adding that the number of hepatitis-B patients was increasing in Pakistan.

They said vaccination against hepatitis-B could prevent this disease.

The speakers said due to low literacy rate, people knew very little about hepatitis-B and HIV/AIDS. This was the reason that the directorate of workers education was organizing programmes to create awareness against these diseases.

A large number of industrial workers, including women and children, attended the medical camp and were examined free of charge. The workers were also vaccinated at concessional rates.

The Pakistan Red Crescent Society, Army Welfare Trust, Green Star Social Marketing and the Marvi Society cooperated with the directorate of workers education to organize the camp.
