CEC’s stance hailed

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, July 23: Pakistan People’s Party on Tuesday welcomed the comments of the chief election commissioner barring the governors from using official machinery in their political campaigns.

PPP spokesperson Farhatullah Babar in a statement urged the CEC to punish the governors who used intelligence agencies and official machinery.

He also urged the CEC to announced the method of election.

The spokesman called for the closed party list system, as opposed to the open party list system, so that candidates were elected according to percentages obtained in the election. The regime was proposing the open party list system or the separate list system, he said.
