All the accused were at large till our going to press.

RALLY: Residents of Alipur Chattha and adjacent areas on Monday staged a rally against the rise in dacoity and robbery incidents and demanded that the SHO should be taken to task who did not register a case without bribe.

Led by Said Nagar Lumberdar Nazir Hussain, the demonstrators gathered outside the SSP office and chanted slogans against the SHO.

They informed the SSP that robbers had looted more than 20 passers-by of Said Nagar village after setting up a ‘picket’ a few days ago. Later, they confined them in the room of a nearby tubewell and started depriving some other passers-by of their cash and valuables. They alleged that the SHO had refused to register a case without bribe.

The SSP and other senior officers assured them that an impartial inquiry would be conducted against the SHO and if found guilty would be taken to task.
