Sherpao meets PML-QA leaders

LAHORE, July 20: President of his own faction of the PPP Aftab Sherpao called on PML(QA) leaders Mian Azhar, Chaudhry Shujaat Husain, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and Kabir Wasti here on Saturday and discussed with them the political situation and the package of constitutional amendments.

According to a press release, both the parties decided to accelerate contacts with other parties for election adjustments and putting up joint candidates in the polls.

Mr Sherpao, the former chief minister of the NWFP, said the PML(QA) was emerging as a political force as prominent figures were joining it every day. He said he wanted that the PML(QA) and the PPP (Sherpao) should contest the general election jointly.

He said both the PPP and the PML(N) had lost confidence of the nation as, despite having been in the power, they had not been able to provide any relief to people.

He claimed that the PPP-PML(N) alliance in the NWFP would make no difference.

Mr Sherpao briefed the PML(QA) leaders about the talks between his party and the PML(QA) at the provincial level. He also invited Mian Azhar and Chaudhry Shujaat to visit Peshawar to see the situation for themselves.

They will visit Peshawer on July 23.
