KARACHI, July 19: Work continues on construction of footpaths with strong walls on both sides of the Malir river bridge at the National Highway is continuing.
The scheme was chalked out by the city government on the directive of the City Nazim in view of the incidents of plunging of buses from the bridge in the past and to check their recurrence in the future.
In order to ensure a secure traffic movement high-powered illuminating lights will also be installed.
DCO Karachi Shafiqur Rehman Paracha visited the bridge on Friday and directed that the scheme be expeditiously completed. He stressed the need for carrying out round-the-clock work so that it was completed before August 14.
