Seaman signs new contract

LONDON, July 18: England’s World Cup goalkeeper David Seaman has signed a new one-year contract with Arsenal, according to media reports.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger announced after a 6-1 friendly victory at non-league Stevenage Borough on Wednesday night that Seaman had agreed to stay with the London club until at least the end of the 2002-03 season, reported BBC radio and Sky television.

The 38-year-old goalkeeper made headlines around the globe for a costly mistake in England’s 2-1 World Cup quarter-final defeat by Brazil last month.—Reuters
