KARACHI, July 18: Jang and Dawn earned the right to meet in the final of the NBP Inter-media cricket tournament after gaining convincing victories in the semfinals Thursday.
In the first semifinal Jang defeated The News by six wickets while Dawn thrashed Radio Pakistan by ten wickets.
Batting first The News made 122 for nine in 25 overs. Shailat Khan (28) and Sami ul Hai (21) were the main scorers .
Jang in reply reached the target making 124 in 20. 2 overs, M.Fahim (42) and Salim (50) n.o. played superbly for the winners.
Muhammad Nasir of Jang was declared man of the match.
In the other semifinal Dawn after winning the toss sent Radio Pakistan to bat first and bowled them out for 117 in 25 overs. Ishtiaq Haider (27) and Muhammad Kamran (21) managed to reach double figures for Radio Pakistan.
Openers Irfan Ali and Khurrum Anis carried the day for Dawn overhauling the target with eight overs to spare.
Irfan played a superb knock of 68 n.o with 11 boundaries and two sixes ably supported by Khurrum Anis 34 n.o with two boundaries.
Zafar Iqbal of Dawn was declared man of the match.
