BAHAWALPUR, July 18: A local court on Thursday handed down death sentence and fined Rs100,000 to a convict after his confessional statement in a murder case.
Haseeb Mahmood had given himself up to police last month along with the chopped head of the victim.
The convict had murdered former banker and district football association president Zahid Hamid Khan alias Zahidi Khan in his house in Model Town.
The judge refused to entertain the prosecution witness in the presence of confessional statement. The application for mental examination of the accused was also dismissed by court.
