LARKANA, July 15: An under-trial prisoner (UTP), Makhno Jatoi (35), died at the Central Prison here on Monday.

The jail authorities claimed that he suffered a fatal heart stroke.

Jatoi was accused of keeping illegal arms and indulging in a brawl. His body was brought to the CMC Hospital by the jail staff, accompanied by a magistrate, Javed Baloch.

His relatives, however, took away the body after handing over a written statement to the magistrate that they did not want postmortem to be carried out.

The hospital sources said that the body bore no extraordinary marks to depict torture.
