ISLAMABAD, July 15: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has rejected the constitutional package, political parties act and electoral reforms.
MMA — a coalition of six religio-political parties — vowed at its crucial meeting here on Monday to mobilise the masses against these steps through country-wide rallies starting from July 23, when a workers’ convention has also been scheduled at Peshawar.
Alliance President Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani, after the supreme council meeting of the bloc, told newsmen that the Majlis-i-Amal was unanimous on re-forming of the election commission to ensure fair, free and impartial polls in the country.
Mr Noorani, demanding immediate lifting of ban on the political activities, said the second Ulema/Mashaikh and workers convention would be held at Rawalpindi on July 25, third on July 27 at Quetta and last one at Karachi on July 30.
