Lankan FM arrives

COLOMBO, July 14: Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Tyronne Fernando arrived in Islamabad ahead of an official three-day visit to talk about regional peace moves, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Sunday.

Fernando is expected to meet President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Monday to brief him on the island nation’s peace bid with Tamil Tiger rebels to end 19 years of war, the ministry said in a statement. “Developments regarding peace in the region are also scheduled to be discussed,” it said, adding Fernando will also meet his Pakistani counterpart, Inam-ul-Haq.—Reuters
