By Our Staff Correspondent

FAISALABAD, July 14: The District Bar Association and 30 traders’ organizations of the city have joined hands for the establishment of a bench of the Lahore High Court at Faisalabad.

This was decided at a meeting presided over by DBA president Muhammad Rafiq Batalvi and attended by representatives and office-bearers of over 30 traders’ bodies of the city.

The meeting decided that a committee comprising senior lawyers and traders’ representatives would also contact the authorities concerned for the acceptance of the longstanding demand of the citizens.

The participants resolved that in case the government failed to take practical steps during the next couple of days, the traders and lawyers would start a protest movement.

Traders’ representatives Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Nawaz Vohra, Sheikh Taj Mahmood, Muhammad Rafi and Rafiq Ibrahim, and advocates Rafiq Batalvi, Masood Sarwar, Sajjad Haider, Sadiq Anwar, Taj Din Sheikh and Shamim Akhtar Khattak spoke at the meeting.

They urged President Gen Pervez Musharraf to direct the authorities concerned to start work on the project at the earliest.
