KARACHI: Telephone links restored


KARACHI, July 14: The Pakistan Telecommunication Ltd (PTCL) on Sunday removed the fault at the Pak Capital Exchange due to which the NWD, the ISD and the local mobile dialling facility from Karachi to other cities as well as the rest of the world was partially disturbed on Saturday- Sunday night.

The problem was caused by a technical fault that occurred in the hard disk of the digital transit exchange B at the same exchange.

According to a spokesman of the corporation the disturbance occurred at 9.40 p.m and was rectified at 01.25 a.m. He further said that due to the fault, the numbers beginning with prefixes 4,5 and 8 were disturbed, while the numbers beginning with prefixes 2,6 and 7 were disturbed due to the exceptionally heavy load of the telecom traffic working with the digital transit exchange.

Soon after the fault occurred, the PTCL high-ups supervized the maintenance work carried out at the Pak Capital Exchange. After the rectification of the fault.—PPI
