HYDERABAD, July 14: Two persons, Mohammad Rafique Pathan and Noor Mohammad Jamali, approached the Cantonment police here on Sunday and claimed to be father and husband of a disabled girl, Ms ‘S’, respectively.

The girl was allegedly subjected to criminal assault and her case is under investigation.

Rafique Pathan told police that the girl was his daughter and she had gone missing on June 25.

He produced a copy of the FIR lodged in this regard with the Quaidabad (Karachi) police station on June 28.

Police said that according to preliminary investigations, the girl had gone or taken to Larkana and eventually sold by some tribesmen there to one, Noor Mohammad Jamali, on July 9 for Rs20,000.

Jamali, along with his wife and the girl, came to Karachi where he worked, the police said and added that the girl left their house the next day when Jamali was away.

On his part, Jamali told police that the sellers of the girl had assured him that the girl had no family but a father who was a heroin addict.

Police said that the girl identified Rafique Pathan and Noor Muhammad Jamali at the police station.

She would be produced before the a magistrate to seek further instructions.

Her physical examination report is also due on Monday.
