Mudassar says Moin second best option

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, July 13: Former Test captain Moin Khan is the second best choice wicketkeeper for the Pakistan cricket team which has a hectic programme upto the World Cup.

Mudassar Nazar said Saturday that Moin can be called at any moment in case Rashid Latif faced fitness problems during a long and back-breaking season.

Pakistan is scheduled to play seven Tests and nearly 25 one-day internationals before the World Cup begins in February.

Asked how Moin would adjust himself to international playing conditions since he was in wilderness for the last one year, Mudassar hoped it would not be a problem for someone as experienced and proven-performer as Moin.

On the exclusion of Moin from the training camp, Mudassar said it would have been unjustified and insult to a former captain to call him for the camp and then not select him.

Moin last played for Pakistan on the tour to New Zealand in Feb-March last year.

He said Australian fielding coach Trevor Chappell would impart training to the camp probables for one hour daily from July 15.
