KARACHI: Land scam may cause loss of millions to Sindh govt


KARACHI, July 13: The Sindh government would sustain a loss of millions of rupees in an alleged land scam of converting precious commercial land to residential category.

According to the sources in the city district government Karachi, a summary was moved by the officials of the revenue department dealing with issuance of land lease to different allottees.

The summary was in respect of plot C44- C59, sector 15 and 16 and ST 23 of Gulistan-e-Mazdoor, Baldia Town, Karachi. The said plots measure 1000 square yards and are in the commercial category, worth rupees four billion as some of these are earmarked for the construction of a market.

The sources said the summary had been moved and had gone through all the concerned departments. The summary entails conversion of costly commercial plots to residential plots of 250 square yards each.—APP
