SWABI, July 11: A local contractor has allegedly drawn a cheque without even beginning the water supply scheme of a government primary school in Naro Banda near here.
The president of Naro Banda Welfare Society, Zarab Khan, told Dawn that the scheme was planned to bring water for schoolchildren who brought water from nearby houses.
He said the district council had sanctioned Rs 50,000 for the construction of 15-yard boundary wall, a toilet and water supply system but the contractor completed the boundary wall and toilet only and left the water supply scheme without even laying a single inch of the pipeline.
He said the society approached the education department, district coordinator, executive engineer of the works department but to no avail. On the contrary, he alleged, the XEN warned him not to bother him again.
