UN honours deceased armymen

ISLAMABAD, July 10: Pakistan’s ambassador to the United Nations, Munir Akram, received medals in a ceremony on Wednesday, on behalf of 57 army personnel who died while serving in the United Nations peacekeeping mission.

The ceremony, presided over by UN under secretary-general for peacekeeping operations, Jean-Marie Guehenno, was held at the Dag Hammarskjold Library auditorium at the UN headquarters.

The Dag Hammarskjold Medal is a posthumous award to those who have lost their lives while on service with the UN.—APP
