Minor’s rapist granted pre-arrest bail

By A Correspondent

MULTAN, July 10: Additional district and sessions judge Raja Muhammad Akhlaq of Layyah on Wednesday granted pre-arrest bail to his guard constable in a rape case.

Reports reached here revealed that the judge granted his guard Rana Abdul Shakoor seven days indemnity against his arrest for allegedly raping an 11-year-old daughter of his friend Aslam.

Naseem Akhtar had lodged an FIR with the Layyah police that her husband’s friend constable Shakoor criminally assaulted her daughter ‘S’ on July 8. The perpetrator took the victim to his house under the pretext that the girl would look after his ailing wife.

Layyah district Nazim Shahabuddin Seharr visited the house of victim’s family on Tuesday and assured them that justice would be done. The Layyah district police officer suspended the constable and issued a show-cause notice.

Police were raiding various possible hideouts of the accused to nab him when court provided him an opportunity to move free.
