LONDON, July 9: The UK government is negotiating with the Indian authorities the sale of 60 Hawk fighter jets worth one billion pounds despite opposition from the Conservative Party.
Dawn has learnt that British Foreign Minister Jack Straw during his visit to India will discuss the sale of the jets manufactured by the BAE Systems. Earlier, Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon during his stay in New Delhi spared some time to know about the progress regarding the deal. The deal involves the sale of 60 Hawk jets to India.
