PARC awning collapsed

Published July 9, 2002

ISLAMABAD, July 8: After just 17 years of its completion, the concrete awning of the Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC), having a life expectancy of over 150 years, has suddenly collapsed.

However, at the time, no one was present under the structure, therefore, the incident did not cause much panic. Only one official vehicle, that had been parked under the awning, was damaged. The PARC building was built in 1985 with the WB assistance.

The PARC director works, Idris Anjum, said “it is too early to determine the cause of the collapse”.
