Boulder kills 8 in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, July 6: At least eight people were killed and several others remained unaccounted for on Saturday when a huge boulder crushed three trucks in Indian-occupied Kashmir, police and witnesses said.

The boulder fell from a hillock at Pandhrathan, on the outskirts of Srinagar, and landed on the trucks where labourers were collecting rocks from a quarry.

“Everything is in a mess owing to the tragedy and we don’t know how many of our men are missing,” said Ghulam Rasool, who owns a stone quarry in the area.—AFP
