KOHAT, July 6: In a mid-night raid the CIA police arrested former PML MNA, Javed Ibraheem Paracha and two other religious leaders and whisked them away to some unknown place, family sources told Dawn on Friday.
The police charged Javed Paracha for issuing anti-state statements to the foreign media abusing the military, President Musharraf and the United States during a protest meeting held here on Thursday to condemn the killing of four Al Qaeda members.
The city police had registered an FIR against the former MNA and 29 other members of religious organizations under terrorist act, 16 MPO, 120-B, 147,149,141 and 153 sections of the Pakistan Penal Code on Thursday.
According to the latest information Javed Paracha, Mohammad Abid of Islamic Business Forum and Dr Abdur Rabbi had been lodged in a lock-up in the Kohat prison.
The police was conducting raids at different places for the arrest of the remaining 26 people.
Mr Paracha had led a protest procession on Thursday to condemn the killing of four Al Qaeda members in Kohat by police and criticized the policies of the Musharraf government and maligned the role of the armed forces in the war against terrorism.
