PESHAWAR, July 5: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company is trying to check power theft and to overcome the overloading by load management in the places where the transformers have become out of order due to load problem.

The Pesco is taking action against those who are involved in electricity theft, a press statement said here on Friday.

There is a lot of pressure on Pesco’s system and because of overloading the power supply in some places is suspended at times to save the entire system from damage. Pesco is also going to take action against those consumers who are found with a commercial connection without a meter.

To overcome the problem of electricity theft, Pesco is installing meters outside the houses and also checking faulty meters. The defaulters would be punished with heavy fines.

A spokesman of Pesco said that those who are opposing this campaign are themselves defaulters. He said that protest of carpenters against the change of meters is baseless.
