KARACHI, July 5: A man was shot dead in his Gulzar-i-Hijri home on Friday morning.
The police said that an unidentified man entered the house of Gul Mohammed, aged 50, father of 10, in Lasi Goth, fired a bullet on his head and escaped. One of the children of Gul claimed that the assailant was their maternal uncle Sharifullah.
The police believed that Sharif asked for Gul’s daughter’s hand for his son in marriage, but Gul turned down the proposal which might have provoked Sharif and he killed his brother-in-law.
The police registered the case.
A young man was shot dead in Landhi on late Thursday night.
Unidentified assailants opened fire on Noor Mohammed, aged 17, in Bhutto Nagar, Landhi, and escaped. He died on the spot and a bullet hit a passerby, Manzoor, also. The injured man was admitted to a hospital where he was stated to be out of danger.
Noor’s family had disowned him because of his criminal activities, the police said.
Following the killing of Noor, area residents gathered at the spot and raised slogans against the police for their failure to maintain law and order and curb criminal activities. Protester pelted moving vehicles with stones. The police controlled the situation.
FOUND DEAD: An unidentified man and unidentified seven-year-old boy were found dead in the city on Friday.
The police said that partially decomposed body of a man was found in Korangi Industrial Area.
The body was sent to a hospital for post-mortem. Later, it was shifted to the Edhi’s morgue where it had been kept for identification.
A seven-year-old boy was found dead in the bushes in Manghopir area. The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors expressed the opinion that the boy died of snake-bite.
The body has been kept in Edhi’s morgue for identification.
ROBBERIES: Three robberies were committed in the city on Friday, the police said.
Six bandits entered the house of Mohammed Iqbal in Orangi Town by scaling the walls, held the occupants of the house hostage at gunpoint, and got away with cash, gold jewellery and other valuables.
Two bandits intercepted Ashraf in Samanabad at gunpoint and robbed him of cash and belongings.
Two bandits barged into Abdus Sattar’s house in Korangi, held the family hostage at gunpoint, and looted cash, gold jewellery and other valuables.
CHARAS RECOVERED: The Divisional Excise Police Karachi arrested on Friday one drug peddler and recovered 20 kgs of charas from his possession, adds PPI.
On receipt of a tipoff, an excise police party raided Dhobi Ghat on Mirza Adam Khan Road and arrested Wahid Gul and recovered 20 kg charas from his possession.
Gul said that he bought the charas from Isran, resident of Tapoo, Keamari, and from Akram Khan, resident of Koachi Camp, Gadap.
The charas has a market value of Rs5 million on the international market.
