KARACHI, July 3: The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) accompanied by personnel of law enforcement agencies raided a warehouse in Shershah on Wednesday night and picked up eight men, including foreigners for their alleged links with Al Qaeda.

Source said the FBI agents had intercepted a conversation on a mobile phone and located it by using advanced satellite technology. The FBI agents accompanying the law-enforcement agencies raided the warehouse near the Kabari market and nabbed eight suspected members of Al Qaeda.

The names of those detained could not be ascertained immediately, the sources said, and maintained that there were three Arab nationals, three Afghans and two Pakistanis. The place where the raid was conducted belonged to a banned religious group whose chief Mohammad Ajmal alias Akram Lahori was already in police custody, they added.

The sources claimed that three rifles, three pistols, three motorcycles, three satellite phone sets, fake passports, phony visa stamps, fake travel documents of different countries, fake stamps of the US consulate, literature about Jihad, etc., were also seized from the place.

The FBI agents took all of the detained suspects with them for interrogation and asked the Pakistani law enforcement agencies that they would decide after interrogating the suspects that whether or not the suspects should be handed over to the local authorities or they should be extradited either to the United States or some other place.

The sources said the FBI agents believed they had nabbed some important elements of Al Qaeda. However, the police drew a blank on it.
