Students boycott LLB exams

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, July 3: Students have boycotted the LLB examinations alleging police interference in the examination hall and body search of the candidates.

Law College Students Action Committee Chairman Abdul Bari Tareen, flanked by a large number of students, stated this speaking at the Quetta Press Club here on Wednesday.

The police deployed, he alleged, in the examination hall were harassing the students with their improper attitude in the name of search.

He said that when the candidates lodged a compliant with the controller examination, he expelled many students from the hall, in stead of resolving the issue.

This attitude of the police and university administration, he explained, had forced the students to boycott the examination. They would not appear in the forthcoming papers until the police were not withdrawn from the hall, he warned.

The student leader also demanded that LLB supplementary examination should be rescheduled, examination centre be shifted in the law college, impartial proctors be appointed, controller and deputy controller examination should be removed from their posts.

He suggested that passing percentage for LLB examination should be between 33 per cent and 45 percent, instead of 50 percent. He also said increase in the law college fee structure should be withdrawn and qualified teachers be appointed in the college.

In the meanwhile, the university authorities have denied the allegations of the candidates, and said that a group of candidates appearing in the papers wanted to cheat and when the invigilators did not allow them, they boycotted.

A spokesman for Balochistan University said that no student would be allowed to use unfair means in the examination. He also denied that police was deployed inside of the examination hall.
