KARACHI: Low-cost housing for expressway displaced
KARACHI, July 3: The Overseas Pakistanis Group of Saudi Arabia has decided to construct low-cost houses on plots of 80 sq yards in sectors 9 and 10 of Hawkesbay Scheme-42, at a cost of Rs50,000 each, to be given to the people affected by the Lyari Expressway project for rehabilitation.
The group chief, Rana Abdul Rauf, took this decision on the desire of the City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan.
The houses will be constructed with the money which the City Government is paying those displaced by the Lyari Expressway.
The City Nazim formally laid the foundation of the low-cost housing project in the presence of Rana Abdul Rauf.
The group will initially construct eight houses as models. After inspecting the houses, the affected people will approach the group’s contact office set up at the site and on their consent, more houses will be constructed for them.
The group’s representatives, accompanied by the City Nazim, paid a detailed visit to the scheme area on Wednesday.
