KARACHI: Lahori, others produced in court


KARACHI, July 3: Ajmal alias Akram Lahori of Lashkar Jhangvi and his two co-accused were produced before different judicial magistrates of Karachi division where statements of prosecution witnesses under section 164 CrPC were recorded on Wednesday.

Ajmal, Ata-ur-Rahman and Azam alias Sharif were brought to the city courts amid tight security.

All the three accused were first produced before judicial magistrate East Zahida Parveen in connection with an incident of March 11. Police constable Moinul Islam died in the incident while Naimat Khan sustained injuries. Two prosecution witnesses Inspector Hanif Awan and head constable Moeed-ur-Rahman deposed against the accused before the JM.

The accused were then taken to the court of JM South Erum Jehangir where two witnesses recorded their statements identifying the accused to be involved in the murder case of PSO MD Shaukat Mirza, court sources said.

They were then produced before Syeda Parveen Shah, Judicial Magistrate South in connection with murder case of Dr Syed Ale Safdar Zaidi. Two PW’s Abid Raza and Rana Nazar Mohammed identified the accused.

The accused were then taken by the police to the court of JM South VII Lubna Yousuf in connection with firing incident at an Imambargh where six persons died while six others sustained gun shot injuries. Here police produced three PW’s who deposed against the accused.

They were also produced before JM East Mehboob Ali Dayo in connection with a murder case of PS Shahrea Faisal.

The accused are booked by city police in some 12 cases of sectarian killings. Police are likely to produce the accused before other courts on Friday for similar purposes.—APP
