Thai PM leaves for home

ISLAMABAD, July 2: The Prime Minister of Thailand, Dr Thaksin Shinawatra, left here on Tuesday for home after a two-day official visit to Pakistan.

Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz and Minister for State for Foreign Affairs Inam ul Haq and other senior government officials saw him off at the PAF Chaklala Base.

Before his departure, the Thai Prime Minister visited the Jaulian Ruins and Taxila Museum.

Premier Shinawatra and President Gen Pervez Musharraf addressed a joint press conference after the official talks on Monday. Both the leaders discussed Pakistan-India relations, Kashmir dispute, the situation in Afghanistan and the fight against terrorism and extremism.

The two sides agreed that all disputes between Pakistan and India, including Kashmir, should be resolved through peaceful means on the basis of justice and fair-play.

The two sides also inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote cooperation in the field of tourism between the two countries. Pakistan and Thailand have also agreed to enhance volume of trade and investment between the two countries.—APP
