MULTAN, June 30: Syndicate of the Bahauddin Zakariya University approved budget for the fiscal year 2002-2003 on Sunday with an estimated deficit of Rs7.817 million.
The syndicate meeting was held under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor Prof Dr Ghulam Mustafa. University treasurer and director finance Chaudhry Muhammad Younas presented the budget.
The total expected income of the university has been estimated as Rs293.165 million. Of which, Rs206.604 million are expected to be generated through university’s own resources while Rs86.56 million will be given by the University Grants Commission.
The university will have to incur expenses of Rs344.339 million under various heads. Therefore, the gross deficit will be Rs51.175 million. However, the university will reduce the deficit by doing savings of Rs43.358 million from the salaries head through vacant posts.
It will have to spend Rs20.03 million on its agriculture college during the fiscal against its total expected income of Rs6 million.
The UGC will give the college a grant of Rs3 million. Similarly, Rs27 million will be spent to run the university engineering college against an expected income of Rs4.3 million from here.
The UGC will extend a grant of Rs6.1 million for the college.
An amount of Rs7.826 million will be spent on research, Rs2.038 million to provide new books to libraries, Rs9.76 million to operate transport service, Rs25 million on the construction of convocation hall and Rs40.8 million earned through the self-reliance schemes to carry out development schemes.
Construction of the new building of the Institute of Management Sciences will be launched with Rs6 million allocation, Rs0.9 million have been allocated for the Seraiki research centre, Rs3.645 million for science laboratories and Rs4 million for engineering college laboratories.
The university will have to incur expenses of Rs46.1 million to conduct various examinations.
