Iran, India discuss terrorism

NEW DELHI, June 25: Iran’s national security chief, Hassan Rowhani, held talks on Tuesday with the Indian leadership on terrorism and India’s tensions with Pakistan, officials said.

Mr Rowhan met Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh, Defence Minister George Fernandes, and National Security Advisor Brajesh Mishra, foreign ministry spokeswoman, Nirupama Rao, told reporters

Mr Rowhani told reporters that while the security cooperation between India and Iran was launched a year ago, “the current sensitive circumstances require an expansion of this cooperation.”

“(Iran) cannot remain indifferent towards the tension created between India and Pakistan because insecurity will effect border countries, including our country,” he added.—AFP
