MANSEHRA, June 25: Following the promulgation of the presidential ordinance on graduation condition for the candidates to the parliament seats, more than 20 former MPAs, MNAs, senators and would be candidates of Hazara division stand disqualified from contesting the October 2002 election.
They include four former federal ministers, three former MNAs, two former senators and four ex-MPAs. The former members of the parliament who have fallen victim to the presidential ordinance are Gohar Ayub Khan from Haripur, Sardar Fida Mohammad Khan, Al-Haj Malik Abdur Rauf and Haji Javed Iqbal Abbasi from Abbottabad and Malik Aurangzeb and Malik Sher Ahmad from Kohistan.
The ex-MPAs and the former provincial ministers and advisers hit by the ordinance on graduation condition include Mohammad Ayub Afridi and Khurshid Azam Khan from Abbottabad, Mian Wali-ur-Rehman, Sakhi Mohammad Tanoli, Abdus Sattar Khan and Babar Nasim Khan from Mansehra, Mohammad Yousaf Khan Tarand from Batgram and Malik Sikandar, Mian Noor, Moulvi Ismatullah, Malik Taoos Khan and Omra Khan from Kohistan district.
