NEW DELHI, June 23: India does not find President Pervez Musharraf’s globally-scrutinised remarks on Islamabad’s current tense ties with New Delhi worthy of comment on a Sunday, the Press Trust of India quoted a government spokesperson as saying.

PTI quoted foreign ministry spokesperson Nirupama Rao as saying however that Gen Musharraf’s comments to the BBC reflected “irrational anger borne of frustration.”

“We are studying the full text of the interview and more detailed reaction will follow in due course,” she said.

Gen Musharraf had warned that Pakistan would teach India a lesson if its forces dared to cross the Line of Control. He also said that the situation on the Indo-Pakistan border was “still dangerous and explosive”.

“To irrational anger borne of frustration, we do not respond on a Sunday,” Rao said when New Delhi’s response was sought to Gen Musharraf’s remarks.—JN
