KARACHI, June 23: The chestnut colt Strategic completed a hat trick of wins in a common canter at the Summer Gymkhana Race Meeting held on Sunday at the Karachi Racecourse.

With Shafi Mohammad once again in the saddle, the highly bred colt won the race in a start to finish effort, beating nearest rival Champion By Chance by six lengths, covering the five furlong sprint in one minute 5 2/5 seconds in the concluding race of the afternoon.

But full sister Lucky Three partnered by Tariq Mahmood did better, clocking one minute 4 3/5 seconds over the same distance, leaving the rest of the field at a distance in the fifth race.

With only six events on the card, Neeli Nighain sprinted to victory in the opener, after riding boy Bashir Karim took over the reins from Najam Iqbal just before the race began.

Tired of finishing second best time and again, Shahdad Star piloted by Arshad beat top weight Touch Of Joy, after an interesting duel in the home stretch in the next event..

Winning Queue never let her connections down, making short work of My Time and Sajan Black.

The biggest upset of the programme was witnessed in the fifth event, when Deniro ridden by Zahid Faiz, beat the raging favourite Nudrat by a handsome margin of 5 1/4 lengths.

The next racing programme is scheduled for Saturday, June 29.
