DADU, June 23: A large number of the activists of the PPP, JSQM, SNF, AT, PPP (SB) and citizens staged a rally against Hesco officials in Johi town on Sunday.

The protesters marched on the main roads of the town and gathered outside the local press club where they held a demonstration for one hour.

They were led by the taluka president, PPP, Basheer Ahmed Thaheem, Ghulam Haider Bahoto, Ghulam Qadir Leghari, Zulfiqar Jamali and others.

Speaking at the rally, Thaheem alleged that Hesco officials were involved in illegal supply of electricity to the scores of factories and houses of rich people.

He alleged that a line superintendent of Johi had demanded thousands of rupees from the citizens and businessmen as “monthly payment” for uninterrupted power supply.

He said that the line superintendent had disconnected a large number of power connections belonging to poor people without any reason.

HEATWAVE: The residents of Dadu district braved another hot day as mercury shot up to 51 degree Celsius on Sunday.

The continued heatwave affected business activities. Vehicular transport was also thin on the city roads.

According to reports reaching here, a large number of people, including elderly persons and minor children, fell unconscious in several part of the district.
